Mumbai Ki Garmi

Named "Mumbai Ki Garmi" in honour of the scorching, infamous heat in Mumbai, I illustrated a series of handfans bringing out the same sticky, sweaty feeling of the summer. As a souvenir, it works with typically Bombay things — locations and people — while at the same time being portable and most importantly, useful.

1.

Inspired by all the times Mumbaikars have been stuffed in a kaali-peeli during peak traffic, trying to ignore the vender screaming "singdaana".

2.

Evolved from the times in the Borivali local during rush hour, when people are either sleeping on you, poking you or have their hair slapping in your face.

3.

Evoking the feeling of a relaxed Sunday gone wrong not prepared for the sun's wrath.
